I have four grandparents: two from my mother's side, and another two from father's side.
I call my grandmother from my mother's side Lola. I call my grandfather from my mother side, Lolo.
I do not call my grandparents from my father's side Lolo or Lola. I call them: Nanay and Tatay.
My grandfather from my mother side came from Barotac Viejo, while my Nanay comes from Antique, and my Tatay, from Aklan.
I do not know the educational background of my Lolo and my Lola, but my Nanay and Tatay are both college graduate. My Nanay is a licensed librarian and so is my Tatay. My Tatay is known as the Father of Aklanon Literature. He is also called as the Man of Words. He is a multi-awardee poet.
But I love all my grandparents. I really enjoy when my Lolo and Lola visit me in Iloilo. I ran to them, and embrace them even if they do not bring me any gift.
When Nanay and Tatay come home from work, I rush to them, and show them anything that I hold: biscuits, new slippers, anything.
Later, I will tell you more about them--one by one.
